Type of Testing Tidal Year Established 2022 Temperate/Tropical Commercial/Array/Full scale/Scale Commercial, Full scale Development Status Under construction Overview
K-TEC aims to construct the open sea test bed for performance test/evaluation of tidal current energy converters. The works could be divided into 4 works. The first is to construct the 4.5 MW open sea test bed at both sites, Jang-Juk Strait(4MW) and Uldolmok(0.5MW), for testing power and load. The second is to build the test laboratory for testing the blade strength and non-destructive test. It will be constructed in KIOST headquarter, Busan, Korea. The third is to acquire the KOLAS testing laboratory accreditation as the international certificated laboratory. And, the fourth is to work for the technology standardization to publish the Korean Industrial Standards.
The open sea test bed and the test laboratory are currently under construction. The open sea test bed will be completed in 2022, and the test laboratory is scheduled to be completed by March 2021. -
